The MR-24® Roof System
The MR-24® roof system is specifically designed for consistent
weathertight performance under demanding conditions and to accommodate
roof movement.
Roofs expand and contract with daily and seasonal temperature
changes. Unless your roof is designed as a system to accommodate this
movement, fasteners will loosen on metal roofs, and cracks, blisters,
and splits will appear on built-up roofs.
The MR-24® roof system is attached to the building's structure with a special clip-and-tab assembly formed into the double-lock seam. Because the tab can move
within the clip, the entire roof can expand and contract freely without
compromising structural integrity.
Butler's exclusive Pittsburgh double-lock standing seam (shown
below) assures consistent weathertight performance-virtually eliminating
leaks!
Independent surveys show that the MR-24® roof system is the most
specified standing-seam roof on the market, with more than 2 billion
square feet installed since its introduction in 1969.
Energy Savings
Because the MR-24® roof system is metal and moves freely under
the forces of expansion and contraction, additional insulation thickness
will not cause roof deterioration as commonly happens with conventional
built-up roofs.
Also, when metal roofs are installed, insulation often is crushed
at points where the roof is fastened to the structural members. At
these points, a thermal short circuit is created.
The MR-24® roof system has special thermal blocks to rectify this problem.
